NO.9/ ON ANTICHRIST #2 THE REST IS HISTORY
“...it is also tell-tale of what lurks at the root of antichrist. ”
In the Bible, there are only two kinds of people in the world; those who believe and those who do not; those who embrace the cross and those who are enemies; those who love the light and those who love darkness. ONLY TWO.
Leaving God aside, there are also only two "Fathers." Abraham who is depicted as the "Father" of our FAITH and the "devil" who is the father of those who refuse to come to the LIGHT.
Jesus actually offered insight to this latter reference when He spoke to those rebelling against His Word.
"Why do you misunderstand what I am saying? It is because [your spiritual ears are deaf and] you are unable to hear [the truth of] My word. YOU ARE OF YOUR FATHER THE DEVIL, and it is YOUR WILL to practice the desires [which are characteristic] of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar and the father of lies and half-truths" (John 8:44 AMPL).
That's quite a mouthful if you're asking me; it is also tell-tale of what lurks at the root of antichrist. First, note that the "devil" is called a "murderer from the beginning." If you're right now asking who the "devil" murdered, you need look no further than Adam and Eve. Satan knew full well that IF either Adam or Eve were to eat of the forbidden fruit, they would die. MURDEROUS INDEED!
But IF this explanation makes sense to you (and it should), note that Eve herself was also a murderer. Say what? YES! Eve murdered her husband Adam when she got him to eat from the same poison tree. Say what again?
If this seems harsh, consider that Adam and Eve's "eye-opening" experience did not happen at the same time. With the consequences of eating the forbidden fruit being immediate, note that Eve was fully aware of her predicament prior to getting Adam to eat. The question is, why did she get her husband to eat knowing full well the consequences? That's for another discussion.
The point is, when Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they took on the very nature of the one who enticed Eve to eat - the "devil" Satan himself. This means that, along with being a liar (what Eve had to do to entice her husband to eat), they had now taken on the nature of a murderous spirit.
"Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or ob obedience leading to righteousness?" (Rom.6:16 NKJV).
Although we have no indication of how this new nature dictated Adam and Eve's expressions of life or how it diminished their experience of life itself, we do know they passed the nature of their lying murderous ways on to their offspring. I'm referring to Cain killing his brother Abel and then lying to God about it.
The rest is history.
Now, I admit that what I've just shared is brief and most definitely "abridged." All I've wanted to accomplish in these first two posts is an encapsulation of the beginnings and nature of what we will come to see IS the very nature of antichrist. Simple stuff really.
From this point on, however, we're going to venture into deeper waters and begin exploring the beginning elements of how this subject gets political. We'll start with a Bible character by the name of Nimrod. If the name doesn't strike you with familiarity, perhaps referencing the Tower of Babel will. This is where God came down and confounded the common language of man and gave each a different language, thus making it impossible for one to understand the other. There was a BIG reason why God did this.
So that's where we'll start next time.
